This makes me sick

Please go to this page and look at the absolutely disgusting thing that is about to take place in Germany. 100 years ago the Jews of Berlin proclaimed that "Berlin is the new Jerusalem." More recently they have been actively DE-moting aliyah.

Now they've come up with a new thing to embarrass the Jewish people. They are spending over eight million dollars to create a replica of the Kotel in Berlin. Eight million that obviously could be used for more productive things, but it is their money. But that's not the worst part.

On Wedensday Rabbi Yehuda Teichtal told AP that the goal of creating this replica was "a symbolic part of making Berlin a central hub of Jewish life again."

Rabbi Teichtal is the grandson of HaRav Yissachar Shlomo Teichtal, author of Eim Habanim Smeicha, a sefer that talks about the importance of Aliyah to Berlin, whoops, I mean Israel. And here is his grandson who is trying to make Germany the "central hub of Jewish life again."

It's sick. Germany, like everyother place the Jews have ever been comfortable has of course done one of the worst crimes to the Jewish people in recent memory. Uh. . . does the Holocaust come to mind? And here are the Jews of Germany, who haven't got it yet. I understand if you want to live in Chutz L'Aretz, I understand if the tivah to make a good living is too strong, or if you don't have enough Bitachon to make the move. But don't replace Israel.

And of all things this announcment comes a day after Tisha B'Av, which is a time to mourn the loss of the Beit Hamikdash, and for some reason, watch movies about the Holocaust.

Hopefully the Jews of Germany will come to their senses, and won't have to wait for another Holocaust to happen before Mashiach comes.

Harry Potter and the Death of Shabbat

If any one hasn't seen it yet, it has been all over the news that "oh those darn religious Jews are at it again, preaching the stupid thing we like to call the Bible, and forcing it's insane laws on everyone else."
I am of course referring to Eli Yishai's warning to Jewish bookstore owners in Israel that they should not open their stores on Shabbos to sell the final Harry Potter book.

My thoughts are like this. I think that's its really sad. Not that they're desecrating Shabbos, but that they have to get their hands on the book as fast as possible, waiting a few more hours will not kill anybody.

We had the postman deliver our copy today (in fact we had two mail delivers, one of them by a mailperson only delivering Harry Potter books) and I politely asked her to put the books in out vestable as we don't open our mail on the Shabbat.

She said that she had had mixed reactions from different homes she dropped the books of at. At some houses the books were grabbed out of her hands and ripped open before she could turn around and leave. Other's, like we did, asked her to set t aside and that they would get it later. And the really interesting one, they asked her to open it for them.

I'm hoping that none of the "let's read it right now" people, were Jews.

I understand the Harry Potter mania, and I fell it is well placed. Why is everyone so crazy about Harry?

Because he's just a regular guy like you and me.

He has no special powers (I mean nothing special compared to what everyone around him can do).

He goes through the same growing pains that everyone has experienced.

And the best one, he WEARS GLASSES!

He's a guy we can relate to.

But, could we wait for a few more hours? I personally am not planning on starting the new book until after Tisha B'Av. These are dangerous times, particularly the next few days, I don't think I should be wrapped up in some fantasy world.

I also wish that people would learn Tanach with as much energy and enthusiasm as they read Harry Potter.

Don't worry there's plenty of time for sleep. . .AFTER YOU DIE

I saw a sign that reminded me of a message one of my Rabbeim used to tell us. RIDE HARD:You can rest when you die!
This is similar to my Rabbi's quote, "There's plenty of time to sleep, after your dead."

Simple message here, you only have one life to live, how are you going to live it? Are you going to spend your short time on this world pleasure seeking or are you going to make a difference? You only get ONE life, how do you want the world to remember your usage of it.

This is a message that pertains to everyone, Jews, Christians, atheists. A question that's asked by everyone on their deathbeds is "did I make a difference."

Make a difference!

Get out of bed earlier, spend more time for things that are really important! Who is wealthy? someone who is completely satisfied with what they have (Avot 4:1).

In all honesty, the only thing that you have control over are your relationships and your spirituality. Material wealth is completely in the hand of G-d. If you want to work through the weekend that's fine, but the extra $200 you will make will just not come from somewhere else. You have a set amount of money you are going to make every year and it's completely in the hands of G-d how you're going to get it.

So spend more time doing what really matters. No one says "he made a lot of money" at someone's eulogy. They talk about what kind of person you were, what difference you made.

I'm not saying not to work, obviously we have to do it to make a living. But don't neglect what's really important.

MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!!

A Touching Moment. . .with someone from Puerto Rico

Someone sent this to me. . .

Thought you would appreciate this experience I had with one of the movers yesterday.
Yesterday our lift came and went. During the six and half hours the five member crew were here, we all became quite friendly. They were originally from Puerto Rico, some not that long off the boat. The crew member that had been with Strand the longest (15 years) told me that he was moving back to Puerto Rico in a month. I wished him the best of luck. He told me that he was not born there but he went to school there and to him it felt like home. He said that he doesn't care if they bomb him there at least he will die in a place where he feels is his home. I told him why I else would I be moving to Israel?
Later, when they were almost ready to leave I wished him good luck in his move again. He said to me,"Do you remember the movie where the man could not leave the airport (The Terminal with Tom Hanks) because his country was at war and they offered him asylum in NY if he would just step out of the airport? They kept asking him why he would want to go back to his country when bombs were flying out of the sky and his country was being destroyed. He told them that that was his home and no matter what, he wanted to go home." The crew member then told me that is how he felt about Puerto Rico. I told him I understood completely.
Who would believe that I could ever have something in common with a 33 year old Puerto Rican man? I hate to say it, but I had more in common with that man at that moment than I do with many of my fellow Jews. We were actually on the same wavelength when it came to what is important. We understood each other.
This encounter made me realize that no matter where you live, it is not home unless you feel it in your soul.
There is no place like home and that is where I am going.

OK, now I think he's REALLY gone insane!

I am now thoroughly convinced that George Bush is an idiot. Some of the idiotic statements he made in a speech yesterday:

"Israel should be confident that the United States will never abandon its commitment to the security of Israel as a Jewish state and a homeland for the Jewish people."

"The establishment of a Palestinian State."

It is impossible for these two statements to co-exist. The day a Palestinian state is created is the day that Israel loses its security and will lose its state. The should be quite obvious to anyone with half a brain in their head. Follow history, just in the past 7 years.

Example #1: Israel pulls out of Lebanon. Six years later Hezbullah fires 4000 rockets into Israel. Hezbullah are Palesinian Arabs

Example #2: Israel pulls out of Gaza. As soon as Arabs move in they start firing rockets into Israel. Gaza is made up of Palestinian Arabs

Example #3: Oslo. Israel puts 90% of the West Bank into Arab controlled hands. This leads to an easy border for Arabs to get into the rest of Israel and they proceed to kill Jews, by shooting at them or through suicide bombings. West Bank is full of Palestinian Arabs.

So what is George Bush's "brilliant" idea to have Israel and the "Palestinian people" finally get peace?

Give them all of the West Bank!

The worst part is that this is a man Olmert looks up to. "Yes Mr. President, I'll do anything you ask. West Bank? No problem? All of Israel? Sure. My first born son who's never served in the army and doesn't even live in the country that I govern? Please.

Bush is repeating all of the things that Oslo tried to bring. Oslo DIDN'T WORK! Get your super large Texan face out of your tush and listen to the logic! Israel will never be safe if the existence of a Palestinian state is created out of the land of Israel.

Why don't you ask your good buddies in Saudi Arabia to give them a state? They have lots of open room that they're not using.
The Arab-Israel conflict is not about land. It's about the destruction of Israel. The "Palestinian people" were created to pressure Israel to slowly give away, piece by peace, its entire country.

I am a Zionist-I am a Jew

I'm going to transcribe a great video I found on Yideoz

I am a Zionist

I belong to a people who brought the Bible to the world. transmitting the Torah, the Ten Commandments, and the idea of One G-d from generation to generation.

I am part of an ancient nation that reclaimed its homeland two thousand years after being expelled from it, rising up like a phoenix from the ashes and impotence of the Holocaust.

I am a citizen of a country that has gathered in her scattered people, taking refugees from one hundred nations, rescuing the persecuted and the impoverished, welcoming idealists and adventurers and restless wanderers who chose to join her, like me.

I am defended by the IDF, the finest small fighting force in the world, a citizens army with high moral standards and purity of arms second to no other nation.

I am grateful to merit Jerusalem as my capitol, the place to which our people have always turned, the city that our soldiers reunited and redeemed from desecration after our enemies destroyed her synagogues and sacred sites, using her shrines as garbage dumps and the tombstones of our ancestors to line their sewers.

I am grateful to walk the streets in a land where a Jew can wear a skullcap or a star of David or a black robe without fearing ridicule or persecution or even looks askance.

I speak and understand Hebrew the sacred tongue of Holy Writ, a "dead language" revived by our people so that our nation would have common basis for communication. I am proud that every child can read the Torah in its original form.

I raise my children in schools where the victories and tragedies of our people are remembered, where the holidays celebrate our G-d and our traditions.

I participate in the only democracy in a region of the world where freedom of expression and human rights are otherwise absent.

I live in a land where I can speak of our nations flaws, our social failings, our fallible leaders - and there are many, many of each - without fear of being censored, imprisoned or executed.

I am proud that our country is hated by some of the most cruel, backward, repressive, terror-supporting dictatorships in the world.

I am proud that the mostly vapid governments of Europe, Africa, and Asia, along with the UN in which their majorities rules, have nothing better to do than condemn us.

I am proud that our strongest ally is the greatest nation in the world and proud that its people and elected representatives stand by us and prevent us from isolation and condemnation by lesser nations with weaker moral fiber.

I am proud of our entrepreneurial accomplishments, our research, our technologies, our innovative products.

I am proud of our artists, our musicians, our authors, our athletes, and our pilots. I'm proud of our national airline, and its legendary security checks, and I'm proud that by now they let me pass with a few perfunctory questions.

I am proud of my fellow citizens, who have shown such grace and courage under fire, refusing to allow their love of life and their passion for freedom to be sapped by death-seeking, freedom-hating terrorists.

I am proud of our compassionate leftist and our patriotic rightists.

I am proud of our un-bending ultra-Orthodox and our ultra-rational secularists.

I am proud of our pioneering settlers and our peace-seeking activists.

I am proud that we are a stiff-necked people.

I belong to a people who dwell alone, yet shine a light unto the world. We may not always be right, but we're never as wrong as our enemies claim. And even when we are wrong we are a nation that seeks to make things right.

Our people hold the birthright to the land in which we live, inscribed in the Bible, proven by archaeological excavations, and verified by the investment of agricultural, industrial, and financial investments we have made, sealed by our sweat and by our blood, by our tears of sorrow and of joy, to develop and defend our country.

We stretch out our hand in peace to our Arab neighbors, in full knowledge that they rejected the UN Partition of 1947, invaded our fledging state in 1948, tried to strangle us in 1967, surprised us on Yom Kippur in 1973.

We pray for just settlement with the Arabs in Israel, even though from the inception of the PLO in 1964, before the conquest of the Six Day War, their leadership has been dedicated to liberating "Palestine" which means eliminating Israel.

We have endured from the Arabs unceasing terror attacks ever since, and despite all political agreements and diplomatic initiatives, we see that the Arabs continue to incite their people to despise us and to aspire to destroying us. We have offered to share our land with our neighbors, but we will not give land to be used to drive us into the sea.

Even if hundreds of millions of people hate us, even if some nations pray that we do not exist, even if some of our enemies won't rest until they kill us and many in the rest of the world don't give a damn, I couldn't be prouder. We have come home, and this is it.

I am an Israeli, a citizen of the one and only Jewish homeland. I thank G-d that I was born in a time when I could fulfill the dream of 2000 years to return to Zion.

I am a Zionist, a believer and supporter and defender of our reborn nation.

And you who read these words with compassion, and understanding and identification - whether you are Jewish or not, Israeli or not You are a Zionist too.

Learn your *** ***** HISTORY!!

ch.I'm well aware that I make people here in America uncomfortable. I like to, as Rav Meir Kahana says, "Ask uncomfortable questions to comfortable Jews."
So I'm becoming a Jewish history obsessor, regarding the post I did last week, I've really started to wonder why no one learns history. The beginning of Judges makes it very clear that you have to know where you came from, that's the only way to know where you're going. Why is the first bracha in Shemone Esrei about our Patriarchs? Should the next one be first as it talks about the strength of G-d? I sat down with someone over Shabbos and we went through every single Bracha and asked ourselves if we, and other people around us really cared about what we were saying. History, G-d, Eretz Yisrael, how often are these things on our minds? Well I can say personally that E"Y is (and I'm not joking) always on my mind. In fact some people have told me to get some other interests (maybe because I'm making them uncomfortable).
I was talking with one of my Rebbeim back in February about my seder in Tanach. I asked him how it was possible to learn Tanach, and not want to make Aliyah.
He gave me his unique, crooked smile and told me that's probably the reason why most American Jews don't learn Tanach.
I was thinking about that this past week when I was reading an article in the Mishpacha, an interview with Rav Berel Wein. In the interview they asked him why Frum Jews didn't learn Jewish history, and particularly Tanach.
He said that it's very simple, these topics have been taken over by secularists, and since secularists have taken it over, the Frum community decided to ignore it. This allowed these very important subjects to be hijacked and distorted.
Case in point, the secular Zionists say that the Jews started coming to Israel in large numbers in the 1800's. The Hamodia has been doing stories now for the past few months, documenting large numbers of Frum Jews who were coming to Israel in large numbers from Europe, for the last 900 years. But because Frum Jews don't spend a good amount of time learning history, everyone, including the enemies of Israel, are using this as a proof that we have no claim to our land.
Learn your history! If you need a quick overview of the last 3000 years Rav Ken Spiro has a great series of articles on Aish, what they call a 'crash course,' and it gives a very good overview. I've been doing my shul newsletter for the past 7 months and I went a little overboard in my whole "Promote Israel" campaign. Putting lots of pictures of E"Y in the newsletter, and articles about Aliyah, and why Israel is so great. Anyways I pissed a lot of people off, so I scaled back and decided to go with the more subliminal way, and I've been publishing these articles for the past few weeks.
The biggest mistake we can make is to not think that we are allowed to be proud of being Jews. Spending so much time in the Exile has obviously taken its toll on us, but it's time to stand proud and understand who we are. Once you know who you are, you will get a great strength of your purpose and mission on this little world.

Hate Universities

Sometimes I wonder if it's even worth the effort of fighting the Bad Guys. Look, we finally have our own country, I don't care what anyone else thinks.

"Wea Justa Wanteda toa Taka Soma Picturesa"

OK, this one I love! After being kidnapped 2 years ago by Arab terrorists Sabrina the lion (that's right a LION) has been reunited with her brother Sakher.

Arab lions, that are being kidnapped by Arabs.

What's the world coming to?

Apparently this lion was stolen 2 years ago and now that's it's been returned the vets have reported that she's missing claws and teeth. "Oh, it is jussst lika de Israelis who do da sam ting to our poor chuildren."

I found this story hilarious. Of all the things. . .

So apparently this lion has been put on display and the terrorists (or the BBC calls them, really high-pitched Britsh woman's voice, "militants) were charging 5 Shekels to be able to get you picture taken with it!

5 Shekels is like the monthly pay the average Arab. The only ones who make more are the ones who go into Israel to work.

That's my (very short) rant for today.

Why are so many Jews coming to Israel before Mashiach comes?

Yay! We've reached post #50!

For some reason I had a strong sense of fear regarding the future of American Jewry. There's no particular reason for it, but when I think of American Jewry's future all I can think of is black, and Israel's future is in color. Strange I know, but here in Baltimore the color of choice is black. People just like to wear black here. In Israel you'll find Jews of any and all colors, from their socks to their skin.

Anyways, I'm sure I've written about this before, is the subject of Mashiach (may he come speedily in the next 24 hours). There's a lot of eventuality when he is referred to, both in America and I'm assuming Israel (the only difference in Israel is that the Jews are actually living there). You hear the phrase, "Mashiach, me he come speedily in our days." Or the most commonly refered to one, "L'shana Haba B'Yerushalayim-Next year in Jerusalem." A few guys from my yeshiva had a little shabbaton this past Shabbos, and we sang the song L'shana Haba B'Yerushalaim, but with the words "L'shana Haba," substituted for "Motzei Shabbat."

Mashiach could come right now, and when the most references are made to him, say to an audience at the end of a lecture, no one's thinking that. They're already onto the next thing in their life and don't give it a second thought, "Uh, OK, you mean like right now?"

The other thing that really pisses me off is when Mashiach is used as an excuse not to make Aliyah. I understand it you have financial issues, medical issues, family issues, community issues. But what is inexcusable is when someones only reason for staying in the Exile is that they're waiting for redemption. Look, I'm not G-d, but I have a feeling that when Mashiach comes the people who never tried to get to Israel are not going to be on the same boat as the people who live in, or were really trying to live in Israel.

Also that it's kind of a slap in the face to G-d. As Aaron Fox put it, "Move to Israel? Sure I'll move to Israel. But first, I want you to send a magic man who will come from the sky and bring peace and dominion to Israel and the whole world. Then I'll move to Israel. Otherwise how can I be sure that you're serious about your offer?"

That;s exactly what someone is saying when he used "waiting for Mashiach" before he makes Aliyah.

Why do people move to Israel? Either they are in touch with the Jewish part of themselves, and realize that they have to come home, or they are running away from something, and Israel is the only safe haven for them.

So when Mashiach comes, which one will it be. According to the OU poll that was taken a few months ago 19% of American Judaism want to stay in America after Mashiach comes.

In related news 2 planes from North America have touched down in Israel! 220 people according Arutz Sheva, have decided that they weren't going to wait for Mashiach and came home by choice. Mazel Tov! May the rest of the Jewish people come to their senses as well and return home!

Good News! You no longer actually have to live in Israel to get all the Mizvot of living there!

So apparently Eretz Yisrael is for sale. . . to Jews who live outside of it! That's right, it is no longer necessary to actually live IN Israel to be able to reap the spiritual benefits of settling the land. Plots of of the land can be bought for as little as $50 and a Jew who lives in the Exile can PAY another Jew to do the Mitzvah of settling the land for them.

This was what an article in this past week's Mishpacha was boasting. To tell you the truth, it makes me sick. COME TO ISRAEL AND SETTLE THE LAND YOURSELF! We as Jews have a deep connection to the land no matter what the Left Wing Whackos want to tell you, but we're not helping out case by "virtually" settling the land of Israel. If we don't come Home and settle our own land, and put our blood and sweat into the earth, there are plenty of people out there who would be more than willing to come, take the land, and do it for us.

The time of the Galus Jew is coming to an end. The only places left with large numbers of Jews are Western countries, and the number of Jews in these countries are rapidly diminishing. The majority of Jews now live in Israel. THE FUTURE IS IN ISRAEL! NOT AMERICA, NOT BRITAIN, NOT CANADA, NOT AUSTRALIA! ISRAEL!!

It's rather disturbing when I hear for Palestinian sympathizers that we should give them back their land, because, hey, we're not moving there, why did we have to kick this fictional group of people out?
Unfortunately he has a point.

But maybe this isn't true. We are at a unique point in history, a point where every single Jew is able to move the land that he's (hopefully) been praying for his whole life.

In fact this summer will have the highest number of North American olim EVER! The great organization Nefesh B'Nefesh will be bringing TEN plane loads of Jews, most from nice suburban homes and communities, home to Israel.

I have a date, do you?

I'm aware that I'm starting to get some serious readers from Israel as well as in the US (someone from India even managed to find his way to my blog). PLEASE LEAVE COMMENTS! I want to get to know everyone!

What Situation in Eretz Yisrael?

There is a custom here in America to say Psalm 130 after Shacharis in the morning. Last week I approached a young yeshiva buchur, who was home for the summer from his resident yeshiva, and asked him why we say this Psalm after davening.
I remember very well when this Psalm started to be said, it was back in 2000 around Rosh Hashana time, during what CNN likes to call and Intifada, what I like to call a terror war, in Israel. This was how American Jews were going to support their brothers in Israel. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but, well you know. . .
Anyways this particular buchur responded to my question, "For the situation in Eretz Yisrael."
I asked him what situation.

He didn't have an answer for me.

The yeshivish world is great, they have been the main reason that Torah is so strong in the world. But they unfortunately don't educate their students about current events or about recent history.

My chavruta and I tonight were were studying the 3rd perek (chapter) in the Book of Judges. In this perek it talks about the generations after the generation that entered Eretz Yisrael with Joshua. How those generations turned away from G-d, stopped following Torah, assimilated, and worshiped other gods. They were punished by not receiving anything from Hashem, and only after they had been enslaved again in thier own land, and called out to Hashem, were they saved.

The pasuk hints to the reason why the Bnei Yisrael, turned away from Hashem just the generation after the one that had entered Eretz Yisrael. "A new generation arose that didn't know Hashem, or the great things that He had done for Yisrael (Judges 2:10).
They didn't learn their own history. "Those who ignore history are doomed to repeat it," (George Santayna). If we don't know what our past is, even our past as recent as 50 years ago, we are only going to repeat the mistakes of that generation and do it over and over again. This happens throughout the entire Book of Judges, how the Jews would go through 40 "quiet" periods before they would stop learning Torah and start worshiping idols, and this pattern repeats itself for the next 400 years! It's important to know your history, I can't stress that enough. It's obvious that these generations didn't learn history otherwise it would have been impossible for them to repeat their mistakes.

We need to learn from our mistakes, so we'll know what happens when we are faced with a similar situation in the future.

AAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!

I've recently gotten into a little friendly dialogue with an Arab on YouTube (at least it's friendly on my side) regarding the history of Eretz Yisrael. There was one issue that he brought up that actually made me a little angry, not at him, but because he brought up a sad truth.

The Jewish people have yearned, hoped, dreamed, and prayed to return to their Homeland. We went through the worst oppression throughout history, and now we finally have been given access to our Home, and are able to finally move there.

What happened? G-d gave us this opportunity after thousands of years, and there are still over six million Jews in America and more in other parts of the world. Why didn't every Jew in the world pack up and move in 1948 as soon as it was announced that the Jews finally had a homeland?

The comment that the Arab said was the number of Jews going out of Israel was higher than the number of Jews going in. Well that's not exactly true, but I will agree that the number of Jews coming to Israel is not nearly as high as it should be.

But why not? Why aren't Jews packing up and moving to Israel in large numbers?

The truth is they did. We had mass Aliyah from Russia & Ethiopia and we had large amounts of Jews come from other countries they were oppressed in.

But Western Jews, these are a different breed.

Western Jews have been given the chance to equally be a part of the societies in which they live. They are able to go the same schools & entertainment complexes that the resident goy can go to. They are able to join in the governments of the country they live in.
They have the same rights as everyone else in the country.

So there really isn't any reason for them to pack up and move to a war-torn, milk-in-bags, no-carpeting, no-air-conditioning, bureaucratic-mess, that we like to call Israel.

Or is there?

Even if they live in America, most Jews still associate somehow with Israel. It's really the one thing that all American Jews have in common from the Orthodox to the Unaffiliated. Of course there are plenty of people out there who try to convince them otherwise, saying that the Jews have no right to that land, how we're oppressing the "poor Palestinians," how New York (not joking) is the Jewish State, why do they need Israel?

The truth is Jews need Israel.

As Rav Kook said, "Am Yisrael is nothing without Eretz Yisrael." Jews who live in the golah, are following Torah (for the most part) why do they need Eretz Yisrael? Is it really that important!

Yes it is. It's our land, and no matter how comfortable someone is in a foreign country, it still isn't home. It's a land that is rich with our history, our heritage. And the land just wants for it's people to come home.

I was talking with someone yesterday, who was visiting America from Maaleh Adumin, and he told me that the first thing that I should do when I make Aliyah is visit Kever Rachel.
I asked why, and he said told me that she's been waiting for a long time for her children to come home, and she wants to see all of her children when they come home.

Someone else this past Shabbos told me the I should stay in America, that Baltimore (there, I said it) is "Little Yerushalayim," and how I should find a nice, Jewish girl and settle down here.

My Response: I feel sick here in America, and has nothing to do with the country. I feel sick when I'm away from Eretz Yisrael, and how ever since I've been away (now 16 months) the only thing that's been on my mind has been to find some way to get back. Regarding Baltimore being "Little Yerushalayim," they said the same thing about Berlin (you know, Germany?) how Berlin was the "New Yerushalayim."

Well we know what happened there.

Eretz Yisrael is calling her children home, the Jews of the Exile, just have to tune their hearing and listen to the calling.

Regardin Mr. Palspal (my Arab friend), yes the Jews are not coming as fast as they should, but wait, in the very near future, the Jewish People are going to return HOME! That's right PEOPLE, not religion. We are connected by a covenant that was given to our forefather Avraham 3000 years ago, and no matter how much you, and everyone else in history that have tried to break that covenant, we're still here. And we're going to be here long after you're are dead and gone, when the Jewish People have returned home and the light of G-d will be spread out to the entire world, and everyone will know the true might of the Jewish People.

ISRAEL HAS NEVER BEEN BETTER OFF!

Great video I found on Youtube!

It's only TV and the media
That make people think
That the end of the world is coming.

Only 60 years ago,
They were leading Jews to their death
Like sheep to the slaughter!

No Country, No Army. 55 years ago!!

Seven Arab countries declared war
On the small Jewish State,
Only a few hours old!!

We were then 650,000 Jews!
Against the rest of the Arab world!

No IDF [Israel Defense Force].
No mighty Air Force,
Just tough people
With nowhere to go.

Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Jordan, Egypt,
Libya, Saudi Arabia, attacked all at once.

The country the U.N. "gave us"
Was 65 % desert.

The country started from scratch!

40 years ago!! We fought
The three strongest armies in the Middle East,
And wiped them out in six days.

We fought against
Different coalitions of Arab countries,
With modern armies,
And masses of Soviet Russian weapons,
And we still won!

We have today
A country,
An army,
A strong Air Force,
A Hi-Tech Economy, exporting millions.

Intel - Microsoft - IBM develop their stuff here.

Our doctors win world prizes
For medical developments.

We made the desert flourish,
Selling oranges and vegetables to the world.

Israel has sent its own satellite into Space!
Three satellites all together!.

We sit proudly,
With the U.S., with 290 million people,
With Russia, with 200 million people,
With China, with 1.1 billion people,
With the Europeans -- France, England, Germany,
with 350 million people,
The only countries in the world
To shoot something into space!!

Israel is today
In the world nuclear power family
With the U.S., Russia, China, India, France, and England. [We
don't admit it, but every one knows...]

To think that only 60 years ago,
We were led,
Shameful,
With no hope,
To our death!!

We crawled out of the burning ashes of Europe,
We won our wars here with less than nothing
in our hands,
We built an "empire" out of nothing.

Passover was celebrated;
Let's not forget what the story is all about.
We overcame Pharaoh,
We overcame the Egyptian Empire,
We overcame the Chaldean Empire,
We overcame the Babylonian Empire,
We overcame the Greek Empire,
We overcame the Roman Empire,
We overcame the Byzantine Empire,
We overcame the Spanish Empire,
We overcame the Ottoman Turkish Empire,
We overcame the British Empire,
We overcame the Austro-Hungarian Empire,
We overcame the German Empire,
We overcame the French Empire,
We overcame the Russia Empire,
We overcame the Soviet Empire,
We overcame Hitler,
We overcame the Germans,
We overcame the Holocaust,
We overcame the armies of the seven Arab countries,
We overcame Saddam.

Take it easy, folks,
We will overcome
The present enemies too.

No matter
Which part of human history you try!

Think of it,
For us,
The Jewish people,
Our situation has never been better!!!

So,
Let's Lift our Heads High,
Let's Remember:

Any nation or culture
That tried to mess around with us
Was destroyed - while we kept going!

Egypt?

Anyone know where their empire disappeared to?

The Greeks?

Alexander of Macedonia?

The Romans?

Does anyone today speak Latin?

The Third Reich?

Anyone heard any news about it lately?

And look at us,
The Nation from the Bible,
From Slavery in Egypt,
We are still here,
Speaking the same language!
Right here, right now.

The Arabs don't know it yet,
But, they will learn that there is one God.

As long as we keep our identity,
We are eternal.

So, sorry for not worrying,
Not complaining,
Not crying,
Not being scared.

Things are O.K. here.

They surely can be better,

But still:

Don't fall for the media junk,
They won't tell you
That there are
Festivals going on,
That people keep on living,
That people are going out,
That people are seeing friends.

They are part of our strength.
It might help some of them
To keep their heads up high.

Tell them
That there is nothing to worry about.

Tell them to think BIG, and
To see the whole picture.

I wish we could Stop War-All the Way

I saw this sign while driving home today, and it got me thinking about this issue. I wrote a few months ago regarding this issue when we had a debate in English class about if violence is ever necessary or if it's never necessary.
I wish it wasn't. I wish that every country in the world would be able to dismantle it's military because there would be no need for them.
Unfortunately it still is necessary. My dad has this vision that the IDF will one day become irrelevant and that instead of 3 years of army service, the State of Israel required all boys when they reach the age of 18 to sit and learn for 3 years.
Because that's something that we all have to remember, G-d runs the world, and no matter how strong and great your military is, Hashem is the one who decides that outcome in all wars.

Anti-Semetism is Now an Academic Endeavor

Don't you just love how much the world hates Israel and the Jews? Anti-Semetism has been the driving force in the world since the Jews were thrown out of Israel 2000 years ago. But of course, according to "Palestinian Historians" we are a relatively new entity in the area.
I was watching a "documentary" on the "The History of Palestine" somewhere in YouTube, (if I find it again I'll post it) that said the Palestinians are the descendants of the Canaanites, and the Moabits, and Philistines and. yes, oh yes, the
Hebrews. They made this statement without any sign that there might be a chance in Hell that they were wrong. I found it interesting that they didn't mention the word Arab anywhere in there. A poll was conducted at the Columbia School of Journalism (that's Columbia as in Columbia University) and over 80% of the students didn't know that Palestinians were Arabs.

Now we know why.

The best part of the "duckumentory" (not a typo) was when they start describing the Jews history. "Jews
claim that there are the descendants of the Hebrews."

Hmmm, something is a little bit off here. Aren't
we the Hebrews, and aren't they Arabs that are decendents of the people who lived in the Arab Peninsula? They like to distort history. . .

Of course the big thing in the past few weeks that have been popping up on all sort of anti-Israel websites and blogs have been the big, bad headlines of FORTY YEARS OF "OCCUPATION."
I went to the big rally they had in Washington and I couldn't help wondering if there really cared about the oppressed "Palestinians" or if they just wanted to bash Israel.
This was a legitimate question as the headline that morning on both Arutz Sheva and Al Jezeera were related to the hundreds of Palestinians that were being slaughtered in Lebanon. I don't here a lot of "Stop the persecution of Palestinians in Lebanon."
Just a thought.

But regarding this whole "40 years of occupation" thing, Marty Roberts put it very well, the only way that this claim is even legitimate is if you ignore certain parts of history. During the 3 weeks leading up to the 6 Day War, there was a whole series of events that lead up to it. It wasn't that one morning, the Leaders of Israel woke up and said, "Hmmm, lets start conquering land so we can oppress our Arab neighbors."
At the time the West Bank was being occupied by Jordan and Gaza was being occupied by Egypt. Were there any rallies protesting the "illegal occupation and oppression of Palestinians on Palestinian land?" I don't know I wasn't born yet, but I am able to look at history books, something that a lot of Palestinians and other Arabs are not able to do because their governments won't let them.
So anyways, history. Three weeks before the Six-Day War, Nasser pulled the UN Peace keeping force out of the Sinai. They had been stationed there to stop any hostilities between Israel and Egypt.
One has to ask the question, if UN Peace Keeping forces purpose was to stop violence, why did they leave as soon as Egypt told them to. And why did they say and do nothing when Egyptian troops station them selves on Israel's border?
Of course we know how useful the UN Peace keeping forces are, by looking at what's going on in Lebanon right now, with all of the arms smuggling that's crossing the border.

Of course this led to the Egyptians stopping all shipping to the port of Eilat, which I believe is a war crime. After about a week of this and the International community doing absolutely nothing about it, they decided the take a preemptive strike against Egypt in order to stop a massacre of their, at that time, very small country (which still isn't very big).

Now is where the Left-wing version of history starts. Ignore the advance of Egyptian forces on the Israeli border, ignore the shipping being halted. Now we can see who the real culprit is. . . Israel! We knew those Jews were up to no good. They're just making an excuse to steal Arab land.

So anyways how did the West Bank fall into Israel's hands if the attack came from the south, not from the East. Well after the attack against the Egyptians, Syria decided that
they wanted to attack Israel too.

Jordan had also been baring its teeth and it was told by Israel to stay out of the fighting. They didn't want to have to kick their butt as well.

Well we know what happened, Jordan couldn't keep out and started firing rockets into Jewish Jerusalem. And Israel fought back and we were given the gift of Biblical Israel, as I like to call it, with all of the holy Jewish cities from Tanach, like Hevron, Beit El, Kever Rachel, and of course the Kotel and Har HaBayit.

Yep the brutal Israeli's are at it again, stealing Palestinian land, but this isn't the first time we have been behind plots to take over the world. At one point in history we stole non-Jewish children and baked their blood into out Matzahs, and the claims that we control the worlds banks, or how we are always trying to overthrow the governments of every single one of the countries we live in. (That was supposed to be sarcastic by the way)

The only difference between then and now is the type of people who are doing the accusing. Bernard Goldberg in his book "Crazies to the Left of me, Wimps to the Right," points out that it used to be the Conservatives that were Anti-Semites. The Liberals were the ones that always wanted equality. They still claim to want equality, put for my points disproving that, see the last 16 paragraphs of this post.

But what's happened now is that, instead of plotting to destroy the Jews in underground basements by people who like to wear white, pointed hoods, it has turned into a subject that can be pursued academically. This is why it is so dangerous.

Anti-Semites claim that they have nothing against Jews, just Zionism. Sorry, Zionism, according to Rabbi Shraga Simmons, means "the belief that the Jewish people should have their own country in their historical homeland, promised to Abraham 4,000 years ago, and with Jerusalem as its capital." So Zionism refers to Jews living in Israel, and Jews alone. Take that Neturie Karta!
Any Jew who follows the Torah knows this, the only question is whether we should have this now or if we have to wait for Mashiach (but that's for a different post).

So now Anti-Semetism is an academic endeavor. And it all starts with ignoring a few details from history.

Hey! Aish Stole my Idea!

Well it's not like a good respectable organization like Aish to go around and steal ideas from poor innocent blogger's like myself. This video is hilarious, and hits the nail on the head regarding a post I did the other week You Want to Boycott Israel? Be My Guest, but be a Man About It
Enjoy!

Another great video that really sheds light on how blinded these people who want to boycott Israel are. I don't care if you boycott Israel! But if you do, boycott EVERYTHING THAT WAS MADE IN ISRAEL! Sheesh
