I saw a sign that reminded me of a message one of my Rabbeim used to tell us. RIDE HARD:You can rest when you die!
This is similar to my Rabbi's quote, "There's plenty of time to sleep, after your dead."
Simple message here, you only have one life to live, how are you going to live it? Are you going to spend your short time on this world pleasure seeking or are you going to make a difference? You only get ONE life, how do you want the world to remember your usage of it.
This is a message that pertains to everyone, Jews, Christians, atheists. A question that's asked by everyone on their deathbeds is "did I make a difference."
Make a difference!
Get out of bed earlier, spend more time for things that are really important! Who is wealthy? someone who is completely satisfied with what they have (Avot 4:1).
In all honesty, the only thing that you have control over are your relationships and your spirituality. Material wealth is completely in the hand of G-d. If you want to work through the weekend that's fine, but the extra $200 you will make will just not come from somewhere else. You have a set amount of money you are going to make every year and it's completely in the hands of G-d how you're going to get it.
So spend more time doing what really matters. No one says "he made a lot of money" at someone's eulogy. They talk about what kind of person you were, what difference you made.
I'm not saying not to work, obviously we have to do it to make a living. But don't neglect what's really important.
MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!!
